DistrictCollector A Shyam Prasad conducted a surprise inspection of employment guarantee works under the MGNREGS scheme in Bukkapatnam mandal on Wednesday.

The inspection was carried out at Kuvvakonda area under Bukkapatnam Gram Panchayat, where ongoing trench works were reviewed.

During the visit, the Collector examined attendance records of workers and assessed the quality of work at the site.

He also interacted directly with labourers to understand their concerns and working conditions.

Officials were directed to accelerate the pace of works and ensure timely completion of targets set under the scheme.

Emphasising worker welfare amid rising temperatures, the Collector instructed authorities to provide adequate shade, drinking water, and medical kits at all work sites.

He further directed that all eligible beneficiaries must be provided employment opportunities and that works must be executed strictly as per guidelines.

The government has set clear targets for the current month, aiming to maximise employment opportunities in rural areas.

Officials have been instructed to ensure daily attendance of 77,000 workers across sites and complete 1.9 million person-days of work by the end of the month.

District Water Management Agency Project Director Vijayendra Prasad, Puttaparthi Cluster APD V Ramesh Babu, APO Srinivas Reddy, EC Manjunath, and other field staff participated in the inspection.
