HyderabadIn-charge Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Wednesday announced that the government plans to transform the slums of the city into double-bedroom housing units. During an event, he stated that if land within the Cantonment area is allocated to the state, the government will proceed with constructing houses there.

He urged Union Minister Kishan Reddy to coordinate with the Central Government to secure the necessary land for these projects. Minister Prabhakar distributed double-bedroom house site pattas to 155 eligible beneficiaries at Classic Gardens in the Secunderabad Cantonment constituency. The recipients included residents from ACS Nagar, Old Maredpally, Sai Charan Colony, and Katta Maisamma. MLA Sri Ganesh and other key officials attended the ceremony.

The Minister clarified that beneficiaries owning land will be prioritised for Indiramma houses, while multi-storied complexes are planned for those without land. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the Praja Palana government is also distributing ration cards and providing free electricity up to 200 units.

He noted that free RTC bus travel has benefited over 300 crore women, saving them Rs 10,000 crores collectively. Furthermore, he encouraged women to join self-help groups and avail interest-free loans for livelihood opportunities.

In rural areas, 600 buses have been provided to empower women as entrepreneurs. These initiatives reflect the commitment of the administration to inclusive growth and the provision of essential infrastructure for the underprivileged sections of Hyderabad.
