SC Commission Chairman KS Jawahar directed revenue and police officials to work in coordination and resolve pending cases immediately, stating that land disputes and caste discrimination issues remain high in the Chittoor district.

He conducted a review meeting on Wednesday in Chittoor with senior officials on cases of atrocities against Scheduled Castes and the implementation of welfare schemes. District Collector Sumit Kumar, district SP Tushar Dudi and other officials participated.

Jawahar said he expected the district to develop as a model, but observed that discrimination still continues in new forms at grassroots level. Caste discrimination has not been completely eliminated and is still visible in some areas. Officials have a responsibility to address public grievances without delay. He noted that atrocity cases are higher in Kuppam, Palamaner and Nagari areas.

District Collector Sumit Kumar explained the steps being taken to resolve issues related to SC communities. Major concerns include land disputes, DKT land matters, encroachments and issuance of caste certificates.

A special drive is being conducted by the revenue department with village-level inspections to speed up solutions.

He added that special attention is being given to problems in SC colonies, including population pressure, lack of basic amenities and food-related issues, with coordinated action taken through concerned departments.

SP Tushar said special investigations into atrocity cases are being carried out under the supervision of DSP-level officers.
