Chairmanof the 20-Point Programme, Lanka Dinakar, on Wednesday called upon officials to work with commitment towards achieving the goals of “Viksit Bharat” and “Swarna Andhra” by 2047.

He made these remarks during a review meeting held at the Collectorate Conference Hall to review the implementation of centrally sponsored schemes and projects in Kurnool district.

Addressing the officials, Dinakar stated that transforming India into a developed nation by 2047 is a key objective of the Prime Minister, while the State aims to emerge as a leading region under the “Swarna Andhra” vision.

He emphasized that Andhra Pradesh should play a crucial role in this national mission and directed all departments to align their efforts accordingly.

Referring to administrative reforms, he noted that a key issue raised in a previous review led to a decision allowing municipal corporations to directly utilize their funds without diversion through CFMS, easing operational challenges across urban local bodies.

The Chairman also highlighted welfare and sector-specific concerns, particularly in handloom clusters like Kodumur, where steps have been initiated to secure GI tag recognition.

He suggested forming self-help group-based clusters for master weavers to improve access to credit and financial assistance. Stressing the need for preventive healthcare, he recommended periodic health screenings for weavers due to occupational hazards.

District Collector Dr A Siri, in her address, outlined the district’s development priorities post reorganization, noting that nearly 75 percent of the region remains rain-fed with limited irrigation coverage. She detailed plans to promote water conservation, expand drip irrigation, and encourage crop diversification towards horticulture.

Measures such as farm mechanization, compensation support to farmers, and efforts to boost dairy, fisheries, and industrial investments through the Orvakal node were also highlighted.
